Hotel Gassner
Nestled between the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Tauern National Park, the four-star superior Hotel Gassner enjoys a peaceful location on the outskirts of Neukirchen am Großvenediger. The family-run hotel is now in its third generation, with siblings Sonja and Hans-Peter Gassner passionately continuing the legacy and welcoming guests with genuine Austrian hospitality. Surrounded by iconic three-thousand-metre peaks, scenic valleys and crystal-clear mountain lakes, the hotel is an ideal base for active travellers. Hans-Peter Gassner, a certified hiking guide, regularly accompanies guests on carefully selected tours, including hikes to the turquoise Seebachsee and past the impressive Seebach Waterfall, a 300-metre-high natural monument. Another highlight is the “Wilderness Expedition”, featuring evening wildlife observation in the Obersulzbach Valley. The hotel offers at least five guided hikes each week, catering to both beginners and experienced mountain enthusiasts. What all guests appreciate equally is returning to one of the hotel’s 49 individually designed and cosy retreats. Whether choosing a studio, single room or double room, comfort and personal character are guaranteed. A particularly unique accommodation option is the Gassner Treehouse, perched among the treetops and offering space for two adults and up to three children. After a day in the mountains, guests can unwind in the 1,200-square-metre Crystal and Garden Spa. Facilities include a heated indoor pool, natural swimming pond, bio sauna, Swiss stone pine sauna, salt sauna, mountain crystal steam bath, tepidarium and several relaxation rooms designed for complete rejuvenation. For wellness treatments, the hotel uses its own natural skincare line, “Naturkraft”, inspired by the healing power of the Alpine landscape. Sustainability also plays a central role in the kitchen. Herbs are grown in the hotel garden, venison comes from the family’s own hunting grounds and many ingredients are sourced directly from regional producers whenever possible. Hotel Gassner is the perfect destination for travellers seeking a harmonious combination of outdoor adventure and relaxation—enhanced by authentic hospitality, fresh mountain air and a deep connection to nature.
