For 150 years, Bella Vista has welcomed guests at the foot of Ortler, South Tyrol’s highest mountain. From the end of May 2026, the family-run hotel enters a new era: under the name Bella Vista Nature & Tradition, the property founded by great-grandfather Georg will continue its story into its fifth generation under the stewardship of the Thöni-Gander family. The owner family also includes former ski racing champion and Olympic gold medallist Gustav Thöni, whose name and legacy have been closely intertwined with the hotel for decades. The latest expansion has been designed by renowned South Tyrolean architect Matteo Thun. Inspired by the concept of a “nest within Stelvio National Park”, the project places the surrounding alpine landscape centre stage, creating a seamless connection between architecture and nature. The extension will introduce 24 new design rooms for couples and families, all offering panoramic mountain views. Guests can also look forward to a spacious adults-only spa area featuring saunas, an ice shower and whirlpool, as well as a newly designed dining room. Families will benefit from a dedicated playroom, a modern indoor children’s pool complete with a timed waterslide, and a new indoor-outdoor swimming pool connected through a swim-through passage. At the heart of the transformation is the new “Tres Fontes” wellness concept, which combines relaxation, movement and nutrition into a holistic wellbeing experience. An expanded programme of nature-based activities, including yoga, Pilates, forest bathing and guided breathing hikes, further strengthens the hotel’s focus on health and connection with the natural environment. Rooted in its rich history while embracing the future, Bella Vista Nature & Tradition remains a place of genuine hospitality, alpine authenticity and deep connection to nature.
