The Hotel Bella Vista in Trafoi is situated at an altitude of 1,500 metres, in the heart of the mountainous landscape of the Stelvio National Park. Following extensive refurbishment, this historic four-star superior hotel, dating from 1875, combines Alpine history with contemporary design. The family of owners also includes the former ski racer and Olympic champion Gustav Thöni, who has shaped the hotel’s history for decades. For the new hotel wing, which opened in May 2026, star architect Matteo Thun designed a ‘nest’ made of wood, light and large glass surfaces: 24 suites offer views of the ‘Engadine Dolomites’, complemented by the ‘Home of Gold’ lounge with a fireplace, the reception area and quiet retreats with a calm, warm atmosphere. Relaxation is on offer at the ‘Natur-SPA’ with its year-round heated infinity pool, various saunas, relaxation room, snow shower, outdoor hot tub and plenty of space for tranquillity. Families will find their favourite spots in the Family Spa, complete with a children’s pool and speed slide, as well as in the 5,000-square-metre adventure world. At Bella’s Club, children aged three and over can also enjoy lovingly supervised adventures with a varied programme of nature experiences, games and encounters with animals. 

With its new spa concept, which combines relaxation, exercise and nutrition, as well as an expanded nature and activity programme featuring yoga, Pilates, sound healing, forest bathing and breathing walks, the Bella Vista is undergoing a comprehensive reorientation.
Culinary-wise, the hotel remains true to its roots: many products come from its own farm, whilst the dishes bring together the flavours of South Tyrol, Lombardy and the Engadin. Outside, there are walking trails, summit tours and, in winter, the Ortler Ski Arena.
